TL;DR

Good stress toughens you. Bad stress brings you down.

If you want fewer worries, you need good stress—like more (big or little) adventures! Sure, your comfort zone might be a warm and safe place, but you don’t want it holding you back.

The Key to Surprising Growth

We all imagine stress as something terrible, but as it turns out, there are two kinds of stress—and only one of them is worth avoiding.

The villain: chronic stress. It sabotages your mood, body, and mind.

The silent hero: Good stress. It's what allows you to level up emotionally, physically, and mentally.

You know how your muscles get stronger because you stress them during workouts? Your brain works the same way. Facing good stress—like trying new things, taking risks, doing hard things—literally rewires your brain to handle life better.

If you want to be less anxious in the longterm, you intentionally need to choose to do things that cause you short-term, good stress.

Tiny Dares, Big Growth

Adventure isn't about selling everything you own and running off to Bali. (But do it if you can and want to . . . )

It starts with small daily decisions to do something that pushes you outside of your comfort zone. Here are some ideas to get you started. Make a goal to take an adventure once a month or even once a week!

šŸŽØ Try a new activity you've never attempted, even if you're bad at it.

šŸ“š Start a book club and host a discussion in your home, even if you're afraid no one will come.

šŸƒ Sign up for a 5K, even if you can barely jog around the block today.

šŸ› Try a food you can't pronounce yet.

šŸ’Œ Write a letter to someone you think about often but haven’t seen in awhile.

šŸ’ Ask someone out, even if your stomach does flips at the thought.

Each time you get through a little "good stress" moment, your brain gets the message, "You can handle this." The moments add up over time, making you stronger and more resilient.

Say Yes to Small Quests

If anxiety is shrinking your world, shrinking it even more won't solve it. You have to try a new approach: Lean into life.

Say yes to the small adventures. You don't have to slay dragons to change everything—you just have to step off the front porch. Bet on yourself this week.

LFG!

Anxiety can be your growth buddy, not a dictator—here’s how to work with it.
